Postdoctoral Research Scientist, benthic foraminifera shells, New York, USA

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist for an NSF-funded project to investigate the preservation of Plio-Pleistocene benthic foraminifera shells from various depositional settings.


Appointment will be for one year, with continuation pending funding and progress.

This position will be based at the Lamont campus in Rockland County, NY, near New York City, and will include multiple trips to the EPMA and SIMS facilities at UW-Madison.


- Candidates should have a PhD in geochemistry or related fields.
- A strong foundation in paleoceanography and foraminifera-based proxies, in particular delta18O and Mg/Ca, is preferred.
- Knowledge of in situ analytical approaches such as EPMA and LA-ICPMS as well as SEM operation is highly desired.
