The much-anticipated second synthesis product from PAGES' former working group Global Monsoon is now in press in Earth-Science Reviews.
Pinxian Wang et al. address driving mechanisms of global monsoon (GM) variability and outstanding issues in GM science in their paper, titled "The global monsoon across time scales: mechanisms and outstanding issues."
Here, the authors introduce the GM as a planetary scale circulation system and give a brief account of why it exhibits regional structure.
The first synthesis product, "The global monsoon across timescales: coherent variability of regional monsoons", was published in 2014 in Climate of the Past.
