1. PAGES at the Fall AGU

Sessions have been finalised for the Fall AGU in San Francisco from 12-16 December 2016.
Early abstract submission deadline: 27 July. Final submission deadline: 3 August.
Confirmed PAGES-supported sessions from PALSEA2, Arctic2k and Floods working groups are listed on our calendar entry. Read about their abstract requests here:

2. Registration for PAGES 5th OSM and 3rd YSM

Full registration opens in early July for PAGES 5th Open Science Meeting (OSM) and 3rd Young Scientists Meeting (YSM) in Zaragoza, Spain, in May 2017. Until then, pre-registration is still open, allowing you to receive OSM and YSM meeting updates.

3. Future Earth-PROVIA-IPCC workshop

The Future Earth-PROVIA-IPCC scientific workshop, titled “Integrating science across the IPCC on climate risk and sustainable solutions: Lessons learned from AR5 to support AR6” will be held from 29-31 August 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden. In addition to speakers invited by the Scientific Committee, open seats for participation are offered to highly qualified scientists, early career climate scientists and experts with experience in or knowledge of the IPCC process. Applicants should provide a short proposal (150 words max) presenting their motivation and potential contribution to the workshop. Original deadline was 21 June but late submissions will be considered.

4. IPCC call for experts

At its 43rd Session (Nairobi, Kenya, 11–13 April 2016), the IPCC Panel decided to prepare a special report on climate change and the oceans and the cryosphere. The report will be developed under the joint scientific leadership of Working Groups I, II and III with support from the WGII TSU.
A call for expert nominations was issued to Governments, Observer Organizations and IPCC Bureau members requesting them to nominate via their focal points before Friday 29 July 2016 midnight CEST.

5. CLIVAR call for panel nominations

The CLIVAR Scientific Steering Group (SSG) and CLIVAR Panels seek nominations or self-nominations for new members to serve on CLIVAR panels from January 2017 (and from January 2018 for the SSG). Positions on the following panels include Ocean Model Development Panel (OMDP) (4 positions); Global Synthesis and Observations Panel (GSOP) (2); Atlantic Region Panel (7); Pacific Region Panel (3); CLIVAR/IOC-GOOS Indian Ocean Region Panel (5); CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR Southern Ocean Region Panel (6).
Deadline: 20 July.

6. INQUA: 2017 Sir Nicholas Shackleton Medal

Nominations are now open for the 2017 Sir Nicholas Shackleton Medal, awarded to an early-career scientist normally less than 40 years of age or, if older, within eight years of completing their first PhD project. Candidates may be working in any branch of Quaternary science.
Closing date: 21 September.
