welcome to Beijing
All participants should contact the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their country for visa information. An official invitation letter will be issued to you after your registration has been finalized. If necessary, this letter can be used to obtain an entry visa. Please be sure to allow ample time between registration and travel. In some countries, visa processing can take more than 3 months.
Neither PAGES, the meeting organizers, nor the hotels or conference center can take any responsibility whatsoever for injury or damage to persons or property during the OSM. You are therefore advised to take out travel insurance.
Travel support is available for PhD students and scientists from developing countries who submit outstanding abstracts. Chinese funders have recently given their generous support to the meeting. If you wish to apply for travel support, please check the appropriate box during abstract submission.
The currency in China is exclusively the Yuan Renminbi (RMB). Currency exchange centers can be found at airports, most hotels and large shopping centers. When changing money, keep your receipt so that you can change any remaining RMB back to foreign currency when leaving China.
Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, JCB and other credit cards are accepted in many department stores and hotels. However, it can be difficult to obtain a cash advance with credit cards.
The Bank of China and most hotels will cash travelers checks issued by a foreign bank or financial institution. You will need to show a passport and pay a commission of roughly 0.75%.
Taxis are always available at the airport. Fares to the hotel will be about RMB 120 (approx. US$ 15-20). The instructions below may help you in taking a taxi to your hotel.
